About Rural Property Guide

Who publishes Rural Property Guide, how the Wayback rebuild works, and why this site is education rather than a listings desk.

Historic Queensland station homestead — a reminder that rural property is a going concern, not only a house on a lot.

Rural Property Guide is an independent Australian education site for people who buy, sell, inherit or refinance farms, stations, horticultural blocks and rural lifestyle land. It is not a real-estate agency, not a mortgage broker and not a substitute for a solicitor.

Why this domain exists

The domain has been online since at least December 1998, when Wayback snapshots show a Rural Press “F@RMING OnLine” classifieds front door. By 2004 the site was a PropertyGuide search-and-browse tool with agency finder, calculators and editorial tips. In the 2010s a WordPress overlay kept state URLs such as /rural-property-nsw/ while filling the homepage with generic investment marketing and guest posts.

This rebuild keeps faith with that history without copying it. Every public URL that still has meaning resolves. Dead .asp query strings 301 to a clean hub. Fake listings, invented prices and anonymous testimonials from the archive are gone.

What we publish

  • Buyer and seller guides at Capes depth, with official citations.
  • State hubs for NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia — the five maps on the original homepage.
  • FAQs written so a short, accurate answer can be quoted.
  • A blog and a guest-post workflow in Keystatic, so editors can add dated articles the way they would in WordPress.

What we will not invent

We will not fabricate sale prices, clearance rates, yield percentages, “clients say” quotes, or live stock-and-station listings. If a figure appears, it is attributed to a primary source such as the Foreign Investment Review Board or the Australian Taxation Office. Where the official number changes often — duty rates, FIRB fees, FMD caps — we point to the live page rather than freeze a stale dollar amount.

Editorial posture

Rural land is a YMYL topic: your money, your livelihood and sometimes your family’s succession plan. The editorial policy explains how we source claims, how corrections work, and how guest posts are labelled. The footer disclaimer on every page states that this site is general information, not financial or legal advice.

If you need a practitioner, start with the relevant state law society, a licensed conveyancer, a registered valuer, a farm accountant and — where water is involved — someone who actually reads the water register. We can help you ask better questions. We cannot sign the contract for you.
